In just a minute, we're going to be picking up in Acts chapter 27.

introduction there to get us caught up to where we are now we've been going through a whole series

of St. Paul's trials.

Sort of one after the other, after his arrest in Jerusalem.

We return to Jerusalem for the Feast of Pentecost.

And while he was there, some people showed up to make trouble,

who had been making trouble for him over the course of his missionary journeys.

And he was going at St. James' suggestion to go and sponsor a group of men who are taking Nazarite vows at the temple to kind of do a public show of the fact that St. Paul was not

rejecting or teaching against Jewish traditions,

but that he was embracing them. Despite that attempt when he got into the temple, people started

spreading rumors in the streets that he had brought a Greek into the temple, Gentile, and defiled

it and spreading various rumors about him.

And this led to a mob that decided to beat St. Paul. He was sort of rescued by some Roman

soldiers who were also intending to beat him to find out what was going on until they found out

that St. Paul was a Roman citizen. Once they found that out, they sort of put him under house arrest in the barracks,

or not house arrest, but under arrest of the barracks in Jerusalem. They found out that those
