And these days, prophets came from Jerusalem to Antioch, and one of them named Agabus, stood up and

showed by the spirit that there was going to be a great famine throughout all the world, which

also happened in the days of Claudius Caesar.

These prophets, who are they?

I mean, this is sort of out of the blue.

Sounds like suddenly we're in the Old Testament.

Well, we have to understand what's meant by prophet.

And part of the problem is our modern use of the word profit is not the

same as the Old Testament use of the word prophet. The Hebrew word is Navi. It's that we get profit

from profitees in Greek, the Greek word that's used for it.

Um, and we tend to think when we say profit, we mean somebody who predicts the future.

Uh-huh.

Right.

And that's not what it meant in the Old Testament.

Some of the things that the prophets say are talking about the future, but some of the things

are not about the future. Some of them are about the present. Some of them are about the future. But some of the things are not about the future.

Some of them are about the present.

Some of them were about the past.

Right.
