Welcome to Searchlight, a survey through Scripture with Pastor John Corson.

It is our desire to bring you a systematic study of the entire Bible, chapter by chapter, book by book.

Over the past couple of Searchlight programs, we have been studying through Acts chapter 19. In this chapter,

we are following Paul on his third missionary journey. As Paul walks in obedience to the Lord

and loves the people he ministers to, miracles are happening. As we join our teaching today,

we are seeing some guys who are impressed with these miracles.

The seven sons of Sceva want to imitate and copy the ministry of Paul and do miracles themselves.

But when they tried to cast out demons like Paul did, the demons overwhelmed them.

Let's now join Pastor John and consider the futility of trying to copy someone else's

ministry. What is it your call to do? What is it you want to be for the Lord in the Lord? I will now

give you the key of seeing it die, imitate somebody else's anointing. Say, oh, hmm, I'm going to copy that person. If I can get

the same look, if I can purchase the same stool, or if I can, you know, find the right

shoes or whatever it might be, you're going to flop. It's going to die.

It won't work. In fact, you might be humiliated. I have been here. I have felt naked when in my own

energy trying to imitate somebody else.
