Got to meet Apollos last episode, so that was fun.

He was out there killing it in his preaching, had a little instruction on baptism, went right back to killing it on preaching.

So it's great.

Paul had left, you know, these Ephesians and told him, hey, I'm going to come back. And man of his word,

here in chapter 19, we're going to see Paul come back. Indeed. We pick it up at chapter 19, verse one. And it said, and it happened that while Apollos was at Corinth, Paul passed through the

England country, and came to Ephesus. There he found some disciples. And he said to them, did you receive the

Holy Spirit when you believed? And they said, no, we have not even heard that there is a Holy Spirit.

And he said, into what then were you baptized? They said, into John's baptism. And Paul said,

John baptized with the baptism of repentance, telling the people to believe in the one who was to come after him.

That is Jesus.

On hearing this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.

And when Paul had laid his hands on them, the Holy Spirit came on them, and they began speaking in tongues and prophesying.

There were about 12 men in all.

So before continuing on with the story, a couple of things

that stick out here. Number one, this is one of those anomalous passages that we find in the

book of Acts, where we have to make the distinction between descriptive passages and prescriptive

passages. This is an unusual time in the church's history,

where there is still this transition, as we saw with Apollos, from people who had sort of been

introduced to the faith by John the Baptist, but hadn't had the rest of it filled in for them.

And this is another example of that, where these people, they are called disciples.
