Welcome to Searchlight, a survey through Scripture with Pastor John Corson.

It is our desire to bring you a systematic

study of the entire Bible, chapter by chapter, book by book. Here on Searchlight, we are looking

at one of the most well-known sermons of the Apostle Paul. In Acts

Chapter 17, we see Paul speaking to a very pagan culture in Athens. This was a culture that had

over 3,000 altars and temples to different gods, and one of those temples was to an unknown

God. Paul tells them that he wants to talk to

them about this God, about the one that they don't know. Let's now join Pastor John and explore

Paul's sermon. He talks about God in verse 24, or part of me, verse 23, as I pass by, I beheld your devotions, your altars and

temples, and I found an altar with this inscription to the unknown God, whom therefore you

ignorantly worship, him declare I unto you.

I like that opening. He says, I see an altar over there. And this

altar is dedicated to the unknown God. You see, as I stated earlier, they had 3,000
