Our guest here is Green Beret John Stryker Meyer, author of Across The Fence: The Secret War in Vietnam, which tells the story of the special forces operators who volunteered to be dropped into Laos, Cambodia, and North Vietnam to monitor and hamper the movements of the attacking North Vietnamese Army as they brought hundreds of thousands of soldiers and weapons down the Ho Chi Minh Trail. The mission of these Green Berets and their courageous South Vietnamese Special Forces counterparts was secret and deadly- the deadliest fighting done in that war. This is his story. 1:29.4	And I'm holding a book in my hands right now titled,
1:32.0	Across the Fence, The Secret War in Vietnam, by Green Beret John Striker Meyer.
1:38.0	His story, as introduced in these next few minutes,
1:40.9	will give you a better insight to today's coming interview than I ever could.
1:46.6	It was May 1968. We were triple volunteers. We had volunteered and graduated from the Army's
1:53.1	Parachute Jump School in Fort Benning, Georgia. Made it through the qualification course
1:57.2	at the Special Forces Training Camp in Fort Bragg, known with Carolina.
2:00.9	And after attending the fifth Special Forces Group, Airborne,
2:04.1	in-country training program, we had volunteered to serve in MACV SOG's Command and Control.
2:10.6	During Special Forces Training in Fort Bragg,
2:13.1	several of the Green Berets teaching various courses told us to avoid CNC
2:17.1	because the duty was rough and the Special Forces casualties were high in the top secret unit.
