Summary

About this episode

Today we're talking about feeling comfortable in your body. This is a struggle for so many women, and it affects every area of our lives—inside and outside the bedroom.

  1. So, ladies, when we say "getting comfortable with your body," what does that mean? And why is it so hard to do?
  2. What are some of ways that body discomfort shows up in women's lives?
  3. And, of course, feeling uncomfortable with your body tends to show up with a vengeance in the bedroom. Why is that the case, and what impact does body discomfort have on women's sex lives?
  4. What are some things women can do to begin that process and start moving forward?

From the Bible

What does God have to say about getting comfortable with your body?

So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them. - Genesis 1:27

For you created my inmost being;
  you knit me together in my mother's womb.
I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
  your works are wonderful,
  I know that full well.
Psalm 139:13-14

and then growing into self-confidence. And so I don't think that those are exactly the same

thing, but I think it starts is kind of getting comfortable and embracing that this is my body.

1:01.1

This is a good thing. And, you know, accepting it. And then hopefully growing into feeling

confident about your body. And to go along with that self-acceptance, I think of it as not caring.

But just getting okay with it is what it is for me is big part of being comfortable with my body.

1:37.1

For me, a lot of it has had to do with focusing on positive things and realizing that even though

many respects, it still does so much that I love and it has served me well in so many ways.

1:51.6

Even though I wish my body were different right now, I'm fine.

I don't let it stress me out and the only time it really bothers me is when I see myself on
