Summary

Ravi dives into the breaking news of the day, from the Trump administration’s continued attacks on due process and the political meddling at the Fed that could tank the economy, to the latest federal funding threats facing universities. He then sits down with Dana Goldstein of The New York Times to unpack the Trump administration’s aggressive intervention in K-12 education, from targeting DEI efforts to threatening Title I funding and issue vague policies around civil rights law. They explore why it’s caused conservatives to flip the script on federal overreach and invoke Brown v. Board to justify crackdowns on local initiatives. Finally, they take a closer look at the rise of Education Savings Accounts, the politics of school choice, and the aftershocks both parties may face from these rapidly evolving education policies. This really matters. And I appreciate how everybody rallied behind us. Before we get to Dana,

1:05.0

though, let me deal with two different comments that I've gotten from viewers, one over Twitter and one over voicemail.

1:12.3

I'll start with Twitter, and this is in regards to some comments I made on this and another

1:16.8

podcast around the Brigo Garcia case and the deportations. And so this is a long time

1:22.9

listener tweeted at me saying, tweeted at me and my co-host of another podcast, Jason Kander,

1:29.1

saying, please keep up the good work, can't wait for the midterm ads, when every Republican

1:34.2

candidate run ads saying that the Democrats want to bring foreign gang members into the country.

1:39.4

Obviously, you can detect a little bit of sarcasm there.

1:43.4

And so I think this person is saying that for some reason that me advocating and Jason

1:51.2

advocating for due process is in some ways an endorsement of gang members being in this country.

1:59.7

And I'm with the seven justices of the Supreme Court

2:02.9

who over the weekend issued a stay to the administration and did so in the middle of the night,

2:09.7

which I think gives you a sense of how urgent they are, and that's in keeping with a prior decision

2:14.4

that they had as it regards to deportations.
