I'm Gailin Drunk.

Polsters are already asking Americans about who they want to run for president in 2024.

In particular, whether they want another matchup between President Biden and former President Trump.

Usually, I think we'd probably say that it's much too early to dive into all of that.

Except the situation is pretty unique.

There isn't an overwhelming consensus among Democratic voters

that President Biden should run again,

or that he'd be their best shot at keeping the White House if he did.

Meanwhile, former President Trump appears to be building a shadow campaign for president

and has sizeable support from his party.

So we're going to ask what all of this polling about 2024 actually tells us.

And ask how we should think about the prospects of Biden and Trump running again.
