It both feels like just yesterday and a year ago that Politico published a leaked Supreme

Court opinion that would overturn Roe v. Wade.

Over the past few weeks, we've gotten a taste of what it might mean for reproductive rights

in this country.

Remember, Roe v. Wade was a 1973 Supreme Court ruling that, in effect, made banning abortion

before fetal viability, unconstitutional, a violation of the right to privacy.

The Supreme Court upheld that ruling in another case, Planned Parenthood v. Casey.

Under the tradition of starry decisis, which gives wide birth to previous decisions made

by the court, overturning previous decisions by the court was presumed to be a uniquely

challenging thing to do.

But court watchers have been tracking the effort to overturn Roe from a mile away.

As public opinion has shifted against totalitarian, minoritarian extremism, the evangelical right

has focused its attention almost entirely on capturing the court and using it to govern
