My name is David Correa.

I'm one of the co-founders of a group called Abolish APD, which brings together organizers and

activists and researchers focusing specifically on the history and contemporary pattern of violence at the Albuquerque Police Department.

We formed fairly recently about March.

And the goal is to really create a laser-focused organization,

an abolitionist, explicitly abolitionist organization to investigate the

Abigre the Albuquerque Police Department. So we have lawyers, quantitative social scientists, writers, activists and organizers,

engage in sort of a multi-pronged investigation of a PD that I'll just briefly describe and then we can go into more depth throughout the discussion but the first part of it is is street research

we're heading out onto the street and teams talking to people in different areas

of the city we're selecting areas that are historically and to this day intensely and heavily

policed. These are areas that if you live in Albuquerque you're familiar with the international district, what cops call the war zone,

south of downtown, and then in the area north of downtown leading to I-40 along the 4th Street corridor where
