According to the Bible, the coming a Christian occurs at the point of salvation, but it doesn't stop there.

The Christian life is a journey, an adventure.

It's a walk alongside our Savior, Jesus Christ.

Today on Insight for Living, Chuck Swindall invites us to look at a passage in the Gospel of John

in which Jesus describes this journey.

He uses a vivid metaphor to do so.

And as we study his words together, we'll discover what it truly means to engage in a life-giving relationship with him.

Chuck titled his message, Abiding in Christ. John 15 if you have a copy of the new testament with you, a Bible.

John 15 beginning in verse 1,

I am the vine, the true one,

says literally, I am the true vine, and my father is the vine dresser.

Every branch in me that does not bear fruit, he lifts up, literally, he lifts up.

And every branch that bears fruit, he prunes it that it may bear more fruit.

You are already clean because of the word which I have spoken to you abide in me and I in you.

As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself unless it abides in the vine, so neither can you unless you

abide in me.

I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in me and I in him bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing.

If anyone does not abide in me, he is thrown away as a branch and dries up, and they gather

them and cast them into the fire, and they are burned. If you abide in me and my words abide in you, ask

whatever you wish and it shall be done for you. But by this is my father glorified that you bear

much fruit and so prove to be my disciples.
