Summary

Dr. Aaron Blaisdell received a B.A. in Biological Anthropology from SUNY Stony Brook an M.A. in Biological Anthropology from Kent State University and his Ph.D. in Psychology (Behavioral Neuroscience focus) from SUNY Binghamton. He is the president of the Ancestral Health Society and comes on the show to discuss his research in the lab as well as us questioning how modern life is helping us or hurting us. We also talk briefly about what stress does to the brain.

Hello and welcome back to the show. This is Evan Brand. Today we're talking with Dr. Aaron Blaisdell, who is a psychology professor at UCLA, and he is also the president of the Ancestral Health Society. So if you're familiar with the convention, AHS, this is your guy.

He works in cognition labs over at UCLA, just basically studying animals and why they do what they do and

figuring out their brains and that kind of ties into humans a lot because we've talked on

So, I mean, we've really got to start questioning our modern life.

And if it's helping us, then cool.

But if it's not helping us, then how do we safely separate ourselves from that?

How do we integrate into modern life, but then have the ability to pull away and go relax?

You know, that's something that I'm a huge proponent of.

I mean, people, we have to do this because otherwise we're going to go down the wrong path of stress.

And extreme and chronic stress, de-evolves the brain.

And so some of his and his colleagues' research is showing showing just that that the brains are actually going backwards.
