Pacific Islander Month. Each week, members of our church family will be sharing stories

that acknowledge and celebrate AAPI history from their lived experiences and the world at

large.

Hey Bridgetown family, thanks for listening to the Bridgetown Church podcast. We are continuing

our celebration of AAPI Month. For the month of May, we are hearing stories and honoring

those in our church family who belong to the Asian American Pacific Islander community.

If you haven't had a chance, be sure to go back and listen to the first episode of this

series where we learn about the history of racism here in Portland and beyond through

the state of Oregon and the effect that it plays even now here in our present situation

and reality. My name is Tyler Hans. I am the creative director for Bridgetown Church

and a member of our racial justice committee. And I'm Daniel J.S. Alvin. I live in Southeast

Portland and have been a part of the Bridgetown community for a little over two years.

Thank you Daniel for being willing to share your story with us. We're so excited to be

able to celebrate the Indian culture. AAPI is a broad category. We heard a little bit

from members of the Asian community. We're so excited that you are here as a member

of the Indian community, you know, which is sometimes forgotten, a part of Asia.
