But we do know that donations and contributions from Russians

with questionable links to Vladimir Putin and some, of course, with clear links to Vladimir Putin,

have been made over the years.

It's something that I thought I'd open with this morning

because it is actually remarkable how supportive of Ukraine

the British government has been,

I think partly, oddly, through opportunism.

On the part of Boris Johnson,

to lie about the European Union somehow being the provocateur that prompted Vladimir Putin

to invade Crimea in 2014.

That's quite a charge. He lied about that in the run-up to

the Brexit vote when he was lying about everything, really, including food, conveniently

enough. And the reason why oligarchs and Russian money has infested British politics, right-wing British politics in particular over the years, is twofold, as I understand it.

The first is laundry, cleaning filthy money, cleaning money that has been stolen from the Russian people, placed in the hands of oligarchs who subsequently,
