It's a free course decision to end constitutional protections for abortion rights overturned decades

of precedent and to fight the majority of American people who supported Roe vs. Wade.

Activists who have been ringing the alarm bells for years about intrusions on reproductive

rights, a warning that this decision will cost women their freedom and in some cases their

lives and marginalized women of color are likely to pay the highest price.

The loss of abortion rights has created a national and international upward a solid majority

of Americans favor keeping abortion a safe legal option and a choice made between a patient

and doctor.

Still, the Supreme Court's decision in the Dobbs vs. Jackson case has plunged millions of

women into legal and physical jeopardy with seven states banning virtually all abortions

and a greater number seeking limits on access to reproductive health.

The burden is going to fall harder on African American women.

Any of the most restrictive states have substantial black populations and the racial wealth

gap means that fewer black people will be able to travel the states or abortion rights are

protected.

That combined with the general over policing of black people has already created a climate

of fear for African Americans who may need abortion care.
