Day 7 in DC. Welcome to Walking is Fitness. This is a podcast of action providing a little extra motivation to help you keep that fitness promise you made yourself.

Final day in DC and I am at the Tidal Basin,

You just heard an airplane. We're right near the Potomac River and on the other side is the Ronald

Reagan National Airport. And so planes come up the Potomac and then make a hard right to land at National Airport.

This part of DC, I've mentioned if you've been listening all week, we started day one, U.S. Capitol, East Side, Supreme Court, Library of Congress.

Day two is the west side of the Capitol, National Mall, 146 acres.

It's kind of D.C.'s Central Park, what Central Park is to New York.

The National Mall is to Washington.

Walked along the Smithsonian Museums, talked about those.

And our final stop this week in D.C. is the Jefferson Memorial and the Tidal Basin.

And as I've mentioned, I grew up in Maryland, not far from D.C.

I've been here many, many, many, many, many times. And the last iconic

structure that I ever saw was the Jefferson Memorial. In part because we've been talking about the

beaten path. And, you know, if you visit D.C., it's an incredibly walk-friendly city, probably one of the friendliest walking cities on the planet.

But the Jefferson Memorial is a bit off the beaten path.
