Not the Geland took that personally. Hello and welcome to this late night State of the Union reaction edition of the

538 Politics Podcast I'm Galen Druk. It's about half past 11 on the East Coast, and we've recently wrapped up listening

to both Joe Biden's State of the Union address and Alabama Senator Katie Brit's Republican

response to the State of the Union. They both covered significant ground. I

think we can get into some of the topics specifically, but Joe Biden came out of the gate talking

about democracy and freedom, and then very quickly got into some issues that divide the

Republican Party, such as Ukraine, and IVF treatments and abortion.

Katie Britke came out of the gates talking about her family and painted a very bleak picture

of the immigration system in America, talked about the economy.

As well, we're going to cover all of it and we're going to try to use some polling to get a sense

of why both of these folks talked about the issues the way that they did.
