Summary
The Australian Waler horse is known for its stamina and courage as well as its ability to perform in the worst of conditions. Over 130,000 Waler horses were deployed in the Middle East campaigns and during that time earned the respect and admiration of the Light Horse Troopers who rode them into history at Beersheba and other battles. They were also used by Merrill's Marauders in the treacherous New Guinea and Burma campaigns in WWII, again earning respect for their toughness and endurance. This story is a tribute to the breed.
