Ep. 136 - One the most unique aspects of women all around the world is her uterus. This aspect of our anatomy sets us apart from men in a very clear way. We're reminded of this piece of our womanhood every single month when we're greeted by 5-7ish days of bleeding. Have you ever wondered why God created you with a period?

In today's episode we're taking a theological look and your period and unpacking why it matters to God.

Today on The Girl to Find Show, we are talking about periods.

0:03.5

Yes, you heard that right, menstruation, and I'm laughing because this is such an interesting

0:09.2

conversation and something that we've never directly talked about here on The Girl to Find

0:13.5

Podcast, but it's a conversation that needs to happen because 50% of the population

0:18.3

us as women experience periods on a regular basis, right, most of us on a monthly basis,

0:23.7

and if you average that out between our whole lifetime, that's about four to five hundred

0:28.1

periods. So something that affects all of us, and I think something that most of us as women

0:32.4

have more of a negative perspective on, we view it as that pesky thing that rolls around

0:36.3

once a month, and we're like, ugh, it's here again. But in today's conversation, we're actually

0:41.3

going to take a deeper, more spiritual, more theological look at our periods as women,

0:46.9

something that I don't think I've ever really done, and I have a guest today who is an expert

0:51.3

in this area, Rachel Jones. In fact, she wrote a book on this topic. If you can believe it,

0:56.8

and her book is titled A Brief Theology of Periods, yes, really. So I hope that intrigues you,

1:02.1

and I hope you'll stick around because I think for us as Christian women specifically,

1:06.0

in this day and age, especially in this climate where we are being told that we're nothing more

1:10.0

than bleeding people, menstruating people, I mean, crazy terms, we need to understand God's

1:14.8

design for our reproduction, for our cycles, for our periods, and the significance that that has,

1:20.9

and how that should impact our view of our womanhood, our view of God. It's not insignificant,

1:25.6

and in fact God's word has things to say about this. So we're going to dig into all of that today

1:30.0

on The Girl to Find Show. Rachel, thanks for having this conversation with me.

1:37.5

Thank you so much for inviting me. I'm excited to be here.

1:40.8

Okay, I just have to ask you right off the bat. How in the world did you get interested in writing
