I am Karen Hunter, and today, August 15, 1985, a man named Nipsey Hustle was born.

Ermius Joseph Osgetam, known as Nipsey Hustle, Grammy-nominated rapper, was born.

I did not know Nipsey Hustle.

He was not in my playlist.

But the killing of Nipsey Hustle put him on my radar because I got to learn about a man

that cared deeply about his community.

He was willing to roll up his sleeves and get busy come back in the marathon, the Crenshaw,

building businesses, employing kids from the neighborhood and being present, cost him his life.

And I think about that today, his birthday, 33 years old, was all he got to live, but he did so much.

And I think about the call on your life.

And I think about the call on my life.

All of us listening can do something.

Maybe we're not going to do all of the things that Nipsey Hustle did, but we can do something or we can learn from his example.

So I want to celebrate his birth today with a throwback, a discussion I had about Nipsey Hustle. So stay tuned. Talking about Nipsey Hustle, but I'm not going to talk about Nipsey Hustle in a normal way. I'm going to talk about him in the Karen Hunter way, the way we do everything here on mission. I was reading several stories about this gentleman,

this young man's life and the things he was doing. And what jumped out at me was that,

marathon. Life isn't a sprint. It's a marathon. Well, I'm going to take it one step further it's neither a sprint nor a

marathon it is a relay race and each of us each of us we're responsible for running our leg

and setting the table to pass the baton so that we can all win this is a relay race
