As we close the year, I started to do some accounting.

Today marks our 52 episode of 2020.

That 52 number was not intentional, but it's fitting. Back in March as the

pandemic began to take hold, we had a conversation internally about how to proceed forward.

Should we really keep making this show? What good is a podcast when the world is

falling apart anyway? What could we do that would be helpful to people?

Useful in a time where many of us were asking new questions about compassion, purpose, science, civility, race.

The truth is I didn't want to make something just to make something or maybe I don't know I didn't want to

ask you for your time unless it was worth your time because if this year has taught all of us anything, it's that time is all we have.

It's the ticking clock many of us, myself included, try so desperately to ignore, but 2020 made fools of us didn't.

It was not possible to ignore the 330,000 Americans dead.

The 1.76 million people worldwide, dead.

And although pundits and politicians of a certain ilk did their damnedest to spin the science.

There was no way of shielding us from the bodies.

The people, old and young, left to spend their final days isolated in a hospital bed.
