So when I was about 11, my family moved to Florida. I was not a kid that had grown

up around water a lot, I wasn't necessarily used to the ocean. I was excited to do

it, you know, most of the time I was used to riding bikes around the city and so

it was pretty cool. A couple of my friends at the new school they served and I

thought that was neat, so I saved all my money from chores and I got my mom

to drive me to a surf shop where I handed $60 over to purchase this old used

gargantuan single fin surfboard that I could barely carry. Like my arm, like it

was hard for me to like even get my arm long enough to grab the bottom of it.

And this thing was like the gelopy of the ocean, but I was so sight, you know,

because like I was a beach kid now. For those early teenage years, like six

seventh, eighth grade, when the waves are good, I go out to school or on the weekends
