Move away from any thoughts from the day that are trying to steal your focus. On the morning of the wedding, Charles Darnay went into Dr. Manette's room to have the conversation he had intended to have

before his proposal, but the father had asked him to wait until the wedding morning.

When they appeared, Dr. Manette looked pale, but took his daughter's arm and continued the day as happily as possible.

As they waved him goodbye for a fortnight in the Midlands, the older man crumbled and went to his room. Mr. Lorry was concerned

and told Miss Pross he would come back later to check on him. But when he did, Miss Pross was

beside herself.

Dr. Manette did not recognize her and had taken to his shoemaking.
