I will always remember for the rest of my life my lovely neighbor Lorraine.

Lorraine was our neighbor in the first house I ever lived in after I was born.

I moved around a lot before moving into domestic

Rylen shelters. And the first house we ever lived in was in Cornwall, England.

And back then, for the electricity you have to put 50 pence, which is around I'd say 35, 40 US

cents, 50 pence coins into the meter for it to keep working.

So typically you had like a jar of 50pence coins at home so you wouldn't run out of electricity.

But every now and then of course you would, you'd run low on those 50pence coins and you'd risk your electricity running out and our neighbor

Lorraine would often come over to our door knock and say to my mom,

Nina, have you got 50 p for the meter?

Can I borrow 50 p for the meter, please?

And my mom would always give it,

and they had this amazing relationship

where we never repaid each other.

It was just that honest, loving, neighborly, you know, there for one another vibe of, look,

I've got you, you've got me, end of story, we don't keep tabs on this. I remember Lorraine because she was

always smiling always in a good mood and she used to smoke she's a chain smoker and

she would often you know throw her cigarette butts on the ground and as a kid I would run to them and pick them up and pretend to smoke like her.

That's so much I loved her I think I even wanted to just emulate her because she was fun she will make my mom never did, and she was always so friendly with us, and she popped over with such ease that she really felt like family.

Now, when my mom moved us out of that home because she no longer felt safe, we also moved to Canada for a while.

And when we were in Canada, we received news that Lorraine had died.
