Summary

A New England story about an old woman with no money and no support who steals a parcel of toys from the town store to make sure the little ones now in her care have presents. Her neighbor across the street has everything she doesn't- a living daughter, a means of support, a nice house with furnishings- and seems to enjoy flaunting it in this lady's face. All these things her neighbor has- until her house burns down.
