I'm Kevin Allison, and every Thursday we release these special episodes where we look

back at content from our earlier years.

Sometimes single stories, sometimes whole episodes, keep in mind that years ago people might

have awarded things differently than they would today.

As always, the title of the whole series, Risk, is itself a content warning.

This week a story that Joe LaTruleo first shared on the podcast in September of 2014,

here's Joe now, with a story we call A Shot in the Dark.

I grew up down in South Florida.

I was born in New York.

I moved down to Florida when I was five years old.

My time in New York when I was five or under was very innocent and very fun.

I was playing in the snow in No Zone Park and I felt very safe there.

I would go down to Florida and see more of a Disneyland.

I grew up watching movies of the 70s, many of which took place in New York.

New York in the 70s was a very, very rough, risky, dangerous place.

The taking of Pellum123 was one of my favorite movies.

These guys were just tough and looked like they could bite the head off a chicken and

not think anything of it.

Both the cops and the criminals.

All the criminals seemed to be cool black guys and leather jackets and then all the cops
