There are so many single bombs trying so hard to raise their children well and you

probably know a single parent or two or three or four or five in your community. We trust that this episode

to find encouragement here. I'm John Fuller joined by the head of our parenting department Dr. Danny

there are statistics about single moms. What are the latest data points and what does

that say to you as a family therapist?

Well I was looking through the most up-to-date numbers and these are estimates out there

and it's one in five children are being raised without a father.

And 19 million children under the age of 18

are in a single parent home.

15 million of those are with a single mom. So 80% is are with a single mom and it's three

times more than it was in 1960. So what it tells me is that there are very tired moms out there trying to raise kids right now that would be so so difficult

that there's some strong moms, many, many strong moms.

Here it represents 15 million that are leaning into their relationship with their kids,

trying to provide for them, most likely going to counseling appointments,

medical appointments, trying to juggle all that, trying to find a way to conquer the

house and give each of the kids chores trying to maintain friendships maybe

talking to family and spending time with family and it just the list goes on and on

including the grocery list that they have to get for the kids.

And so we need to be praying for moms as they lean into this and find exhaustion because it's hard to build a relationship when you're exhausted.
