Well, that may be on the minds of some folks in the Justice Department in the coming months.

Last week, Alaska Airlines announced plans to buy its rival Hawaiian Airlines in a cash and debt deal worth $1.9 billion.

Here's the quick and dirty.

Hawaiian's branding will remain intact. The airline's

loyalty programs will eventually merge, and there will be layoffs, though Alaska's CEO Ben Minnicucci

said he hopes those will be minimal. Right now, only 12 of Alaska and Hawaiian's roots overlap. The

airlines plan to keep the rest unchanged. And importantly for folks in Hawaii,
