I think before we get into why this has happened and who's actually involved in the politics,

maybe we can just talk about what actually happened.

So from a distance, I saw there was pretty heavy riots.

They looked quite serious.

Police cars set on fire in Dublin, that kind of thing.

Yeah, I guess maybe just if you can explain the situation, what happened, why people

came out and why this is such a big issue right now.

So the news emerged on Tuesday night, I believe it was that a young girl, age 10, had been

raped by the resident of an IPAS centre, which is a residence that holds people who are applying for asylum in Ireland

and also people who have been rejected for asylum in Ireland

and are awaiting deportation.

So that news emerged and, you know, stories of course do flash up now and again, and you kind of have to wait and see.

But in this case, the news covered it quite quickly that somebody had been arrested and charged.

And then it became a reality, you know, something definitely had happened.

And a lot of people then, you know, made it their business to travel to city west.

You had people there for various reasons on the night.

You know, you had a lot of people.
