Hey there, this is Red Menace, my name is Allison and I am here with my co-host Brett

and today we are going to be doing another current event episode.

So for those who don't know, we are a podcast where we alternate back and forth between

covering theory and theoretical texts and then covering more current events and for

this month we are going to be talking about some of the things that are happening in the

world around us and trying to find some clarity around them and how to understand them

specifically from a Marxist lens.

So we kind of have several things that we want to get into today but one thing that probably

most of our listeners are thinking about and have thought about recently is the stimulus

bill.

So we finally, after an incredible delay, have a stimulus bill that has gotten passed and

some people are already getting their checks for that as you may know but also the bill

despite being helpful in as much as we all need those checks has had some huge blowback

in terms of getting gutted for things around minimum weight, getting gutted of loan forgiveness

aspects and there's a whole discussion to be had about how we got to this point of this

very gutted stimulus bill even though the Democrats have both houses of the legislature

and the presidency.
