Is there a reason we're using that term?

I've always heard of the Spanish Armada.

I don't actually know if it's a Spanish term.

I think it's the English equivalent?

I think it's the agreed upon term for a whole bunch of boats that are going to do warfare-like activity. But not your whole Navy. It's just a whole bunch of boats that are going to do warfare-like activity.
