Summary
If I had to pick just one person to speak into the nitty gritty of starting a new school year, it would 100% be Mia Mbroh. She’s not only a licensed professional counselor, but she has also worked directly in the school trenches giving her a unique insider's perspective.
In the only way Mia knows how, today she brings us an honest and vulnerable look at the good, bad, and ugly that our kids are facing in this new school year. And as a part of that, I can promise you don’t want to miss a second of her advice on showing grace and letting go of some of the high expectations we’re holding onto for our kids (ouch, my toes).
There’s a really, really good word I needed to hear on walking our kids through hard friendships, social awkwardness, and the hard places we face with learning differences. And take note if you have a junior high or high school child, she addresses ways to best connect with these little darlings and gives a HILARIOUS dog/cat analogy.
If your kids are back in school, don’t miss the wise words of Mia Mbroh!

| 0:35.4 | mess. And I'm guessing your life is like |
| 0:38.1 | mine and your kids are back in school. It's been a couple weeks and maybe some of the things that |
| 0:41.2 | were hard last year, maybe some of the back to school issues you've had in the past are now starting |
| 0:45.7 | to rear their heads again this year. And that's why I'm thrilled to have my friend Mia Embrough |
| 0:50.8 | on the podcast today. And Mia is a counselor. She's worked with kids and schools. |
| 0:55.5 | She speaks everywhere. She's really unbelievable. So I'm totally underselling her. She's just my |
| 1:00.1 | very dear friend. And she is so wise. And one of those people that if anything is going on life, |
| 1:04.7 | I know that I can call her and she will have just God given wisdom. And so I'm thrilled she's |
| 1:09.4 | here to talk through some of those hard things with back to school and how to walk this well with our kids. It also made me think of something |
| 1:14.7 | that falls under the category of too much information. And if you've listened to this podcast long |
| 1:19.1 | enough, you're probably used to that. Maybe you're immune to the too much information that comes |
| 1:22.7 | from this side of the mic. But I want to share something that struck me. And so I have this little |
| 1:28.2 | place on the bottom of my foot and I had a little dermatological procedure done on it. And so the |
| 1:33.4 | spot that was dealt with is no larger than like a pencil eraser. Okay. Like it is not large at all, |
| 1:39.2 | tiny. In fact, I would like probably mock my kids for making a big deal of something that small. |
| 1:43.9 | But for whatever reason, I can barely walk with it. |
| 1:46.8 | It is like I limp and then my hips started hurting. |
