Hallelujah. Hallelujah to the Lamb of God. You may be seated. Our scripture lesson today comes from

First Kings chapter 19, verse 4 through 8 in the New Living Translation. Notice there these words.

Then he went on alone into the wilderness traveling all day and he sat down under a solitary broom tree and prayed that he might die.

I've had enough, Lord, he said. Take my life for I am no better than my ancestors who have already died.

And then he lay down and slept under the broom tree. But as he was sleeping,

an angel touched him and told him, get up and eat. And he looked around and there beside his

head was some bread baked on hot stones and a jar of water. And so he ate and drank and lay down again.

And then the angel of the Lord came again and touched him and said, get up and eat some more

or the journey ahead of you will be too much for you.

And so he got up and ate and drink and the food gave him enough strength to travel 40 days and

40 nights to Mount Sinai, the mountain of God.

And we're speaking today from the subject simply a nap and a snack.

A nap and a snack.

This is Elijah the prophet.

He had just had this extraordinary ability as a prophet of God to be able to call down fire from heaven.

He just had a gift of just being able to pray the fire of God down.

And you know, they just had the showdown on Mount Carmel

with the 450 prophets of Bale, the false prophets of Bail. And then he said, you know, if your God be

God, let's call down fire and the God that answers by fire will be the true and the living God.

And Elijah knew he had this one because he had an

anointing to be able to pray down fire and the others called on their gods and nothing happened

and then Elijah said it's my turn let me show you what my God can do and the god of Elijah
