So this season, we've been talking about all sorts of fun stuff about land resistance,

community defense.

We talked about our buddy Henry Stephen Salt, how he basically was everyone's

best friend that was important in the 19th century, how he started tying this idea of

like socialism and like the limitations of capitalism to ecology and the concept of a very

primitive understanding of appropriate technologies.

We'll talk about his BFF Kropokin later on today.

And despite this episode not being about him, because unsurprisingly, the side of socialism that found itself connected to the land tended to be more along that libertarian anarchist lens, even if the terminology

wasn't exclusively used.

It's weird that people who use the term fully automated luxury space communism

didn't like come from a line of thinking about land relations.

Right?

That's so surprising.

So today we're going to trace the intellectual life of Lewis Mumford, a name you probably

don't know for most of the people listening.
