| 0:00.0 | All right, team, welcome back to the man talk show. |
| 0:09.8 | Connor Beaton here. |
| 0:10.7 | And today, I'm going to be doing a man's guide to inner child work. |
| 0:14.0 | What actually is that? |
| 0:15.7 | Now, for the purpose of today's conversation, I'm going to be talking and referring to |
| 0:20.0 | this as fathering yourself, |
| 0:22.9 | fathering the boy that exists inside of you. And there's a great quote by Friedrich Nietzsche, |
| 0:30.4 | who said that what is hidden in the father is revealed in the son. What's hidden in the father |
| 0:37.4 | is revealed in the sun. And that quote is |
| 0:40.7 | going to be important for some of the stuff that we're going to talk about later on. But one of the |
| 0:44.8 | things I'll just say right here is that it's very common that the thing or the things that your |
| 0:50.6 | father lacked are the things that the boy in you is actually needing for you as a man |
| 0:57.3 | to contribute and give to him. So I'm going to say that again because it might sound a little, |
| 1:01.5 | like what? But I want you to write this down. I'm going to give you a question in a second. |
| 1:05.7 | The things that your father lacked are the things that the boy in you, the younger version of you, that younger subconscious |
| 1:12.9 | part of you, is looking for from you. So as an example, if your father was a flaccid wet |
| 1:20.5 | noodle that had zero connection to his anger, never stood up for himself, never had boundaries, |
| 1:31.0 | the boy in you needs you to be somebody who is able to set boundaries, who's able to say no, who's able to develop a robust spine |
| 1:37.6 | that can stand up for himself, that can stand up for that boy, because otherwise that boy is |
| 1:42.3 | going to feel like he has to do it all the time. |
| 1:45.4 | So that's just a bit of a context and container because sometimes inner child work doesn't |
| 1:51.7 | really land with a lot of men. They're like, I don't know, like inner child. |
