Los Angeles County Superior Judge Michael Jessica ruled in favor of the brothers,

reducing their sentence to 50 years to life with the opportunity for parole.

Eric and Lyle Menendez have spent the last 35 years in prison,

serving a life sentence for the 1989 shotgun murders of their parents, Jose and Kitty Menendez.

The decision, however, does not guarantee their release, as their freedom is now in the hands

of the parole board, as well as California Governor Gavin Newsom.
