Genesis chapter 25, verse 8, Abraham breathed his last and died in a good old age,

an old man and full of years, and was gathered to his people.

This verse describes the last breath of one of the most well-known, one of the most revered in

our right sense father of faith in the Bible.

You just think about Abraham's story going all the way back to Genesis

chapter 12 when God spoke to Abraham and said, go to this land I will show you. And Abraham

did it. He obeyed God. He trusted God. And this is the story of Abraham that we see over and over again

in so many different ways that he's recognized in Hebrews chapter 11 for, obviously not perfect,

as no one else in Scripture is apart from Jesus. But a man who was full of faith, who is an example of faith

for us. And when I read this verse that just describes his last breath, he breathed his last

breath and died.

It makes me think, how can I live today?

How can you live today?

For what's going to matter most on that day?

I think the author of Ecclesiastes in particular is backing us to consider.

Like stand at your coffin, at your funeral, at your last day, and look back.

How will you wish you have lived and live that way today?

And in light of Abraham's examples specifically, I guarantee you we will not regret living by faith in God.

So let's pray that God would help us to live by faith today in a way that we are ready at any point,

knowing none of us is guaranteed tomorrow for our

last breath. Oh, God, we thank you for Abraham. We thank you for his example of faith. We thank you
