I'm We've been saying all season long that we've been looking forward to the ending.

Not that we were in a hurry to get there, but because we know it's a strong ending.

We know that a strong ending was handed to the showrunners, and that's something nice to look forward to.

It's a nice reassurance, given how bad a lot of endings

are throughout the world of television, we just don't get a lot of quality endings in general.

And as the season went on, we gained confidence in their ability to pull it off pretty quickly,

to be honest, given how well the early episodes went. And, you know, overall, the Hedge Knight is a story with powerful

themes that we were introduced to in A Song of Ice and Fire somewhat, and they're intrinsically tied

to a whole new set of characters. I mean, new as opposed to a Song of Ice and Fire, some of whom

were somewhat familiar with, given their families and other aspects of Westeros

that are familiar as well. Now, those themes culminate here in the final episode just as they do

in the final pages of the novel. The choices made here are the anchor for the rest of Dunkin'

Egg's lives. This is how it's all established. Here we get the groundwork for future conflict,

future adventures, future fun.

We know what Dunk's values are, and then living up to those values comes at great personal cost,

but also with a deep personal satisfaction and the admiration of many, like Egg, and us.

Dunk was told by Rafe to go out and find a family, and Dunk and Egg chose each other.

Dunk never knew his, and Egg is better off not knowing his birth family.
