Hello, everyone, and welcome to Slash Film Weekly. It's Wednesday, October 29th, 2025 on today's

0:05.0

episode of the show. I'm going to talk really quickly about some film and TV news, and we'll get into spoiler-filled discussions about Springsteen, Deliver Me from Nowhere, and a House of Dynamite. Plus, we'll present interviews with a couple of Nightmare on Elm Street directors, and wrap up with an interview of the creator of the Prime Video Animated TV series Has Been Hotel. My name

0:23.7

is Ben Pearson. I'm an editor at slashfilm.com

0:26.2

and happy Halloween week to everyone. I hope everybody has a safe and healthy and fun Halloween

0:32.1

coming up on Friday. We have a lot of really good lengthy conversations and interviews and stuff planned for you in this episode.

0:40.8

So I'm going to do a rapid fire through the news in a way that I've never done before.

0:45.3

I'm going to put all these links in the show notes as usual.

0:49.0

But like you'll hear, I'm just going to really, really blaze through this because we have a lot of good stuff that I want to get to today. So Paramount wants to buy Warner Brothers Discovery. And this is

0:58.8

something I believe we talked about when it was first kind of tossed around as an idea

1:03.3

months ago. But now it seems much more serious and there are evidently going to be several

1:10.1

bidders for Warner Brothers. This is probably

1:12.3

going to be something we're going to be talking about for the next few months, if not years.

1:16.3

So buckle up for more of that. I did think it was notable that the Writers Guild of America

1:21.9

released some sort of statement saying that they were going to plan to help block that merger.

1:29.5

So I don't know what kind of power they might have in this situation, but we'll see how that goes. Netflix is adapting a TV show

1:34.6

that David Fincher could not crack. The show was called Black Hole, and Jane Schoenbrun, the

1:39.7

director behind We're All Going to the World's Fair, and I saw saw the TV glow is taking a crack at it now.

1:46.5

So I'll be very curious to see what they bring to this story because this sounds like a story

1:52.6

that seems kind of tailor made for their particular sensibilities. And if you don't know what

1:57.9

Black Hole is, once again, I'll just recommend that you check out the article because it lays out the plot summary there, the synopsis, and, oh, man, it sounds very, very interesting.

2:08.3

So check that out.

2:09.7

Two horror directors are giving us dueling Christmas Carol movies.
