Rule number three, we walk by faith, not by sight. The homemaker walks and eats and parents and

disciplines and nurtures by faith. She loves her husband, submits to him, and respects him by faith.

She plans the weekly menu, shops for groceries, cooks dinner, and feeds her people by faith.

She exercises, pursues good health, cares for the sick,

and walks through trials by faith. As Paul teaches in Romans 14, whatever does not proceed from faith is

sin. Why? Because faith is trust. Trust in the God who made you, who gave you your home and your

duties in it. He is the one who made you, made marriage, made the

household, and calls you to your good work there. He made the food you prepare and the little people

you care for. He made it all, knows it all, and loves it all. And so he calls you to trust in him in all

of it. What is a tidy home that is empty of faith in the one who made the home? What is a marriage

apart from faith in the one who made the home. What is a marriage apart from

faith in the one who made marriage? In this episode of Brightheart, we continue with the third

installment of a short series entitled The Homemaker's Rules for Life, where we're working through

some foundational principles in the life of the homemaker. What are we prone to forget in the

thick of a busy day, week, and month? What truths do we need to be tethered to in the gales of motherhood, the pressures of keeping a home,

and the busyness of a productive life lived before the Lord?

For many of you, these won't be brand new ideas.

Most of what we need to hear doesn't fall in that category after all.

Did I snap at my kids because I just didn't know I shouldn't have? Was I disrespectful to my

husband because nobody ever told me I shouldn't be? Of course not. We all need to be reminded of

these things from time to time. The third role goes like this. A godly homemaker walks by faith.
