This is Zohon Mamdani.

0:53.4

He's the mayor of New York City. He made this video

0:55.7

released it yesterday. I ran for mayor. I said I was going to tax the rich. Well, today we're

1:03.1

taxing the week. I'm thrilled to announce we've secured a pietaterr tax, the first in New York's

1:07.9

history. This is an annual fee on luxury properties worth $5 million whose owners do not live full-time in the city. Like for this penthouse,

1:35.1

empty, since again, they don't actually live here. This is a fundamentally unfair system that

1:40.5

hurts working New Yorkers. Now, it's coming to an end. This tax will raise at

1:44.7

least $500 million directly for the city. It'll help fund things like free childcare,

1:50.1

cleaner streets, and safer neighborhoods. As mayor, I believe everyone has a role to play

1:54.6

in contributing to our city. And some, a little bit more than others. Happy Tax Day, New York. Ah, that's such a good piece of propaganda.

2:05.6

It's so well made. If you could see it, it's beautiful.
