Hi, everybody. Welcome to a special serving of scoop for this Thanksgiving holiday. Welcome to

Smarter News. My name is Jenna, and I'm glad we get to spend a little time together before the festivities

commence a little later on this week. I wanted to do something different for Thanksgiving.

We love covering the news for you. We love providing a cheat sheet for the

week ahead. But we have been navigating a really challenging and important news cycle together.

And I thought we could all use a little something different. I love linking arms with you during

these particularly tough times. And we've done that periodically over the last several years

at Sparer News, where there's really serious matters to cover. I love doing that. We'll continue

to keep you updated. Obviously, if there's any big developments on any of the major news stories

we're watching. But everybody needs a breather every once in a while. And I wanted to do something

a little bit different for you this week, in part because I wanted to remind us

that information is there to inspire and to delight us. And also, I wanted to equip you. Just in case

you needed to pull a topic from your back pocket and throw it on the Thanksgiving dinner table, death to diffuse a heated

conversation about any current events. And maybe I'm just projecting. Maybe this doesn't happen for

every family or groups of friends. You know, maybe everybody comes together peaceably and nobody

has any heated conversations. However, in case, in case you do find yourself in the middle of one and, you know, cousin Martha is

fighting with Uncle Joe about something, you might need to just say, hey, guys, you know what?

You know what's crazy?

Did you know that the woman who wrote Mary had a little lamb is responsible in part for the Thanksgiving holiday.

Isn't that crazy? Pass the potatoes. And then everybody's like, wait, what? And someone asked,

wait, what are you talking about? And then the conversation changes. You see, so this is what

we're going to do here. We're going to inspire and delight in the curiosity over the Thanksgiving holiday, and we're also going to equip each other to have a little something in case we need to add. We need to add it. So this is what we're going to do. We're going to be smarter about Thanksgiving together. I had a lot of fun, by the way, looking through these different stories about the Thanksgiving holiday.
