Should we begin with a little prediction?

It's not a particularly clairvoyant one, but a couple of newspaper movements in the last 24 hours

lead me to conclude that despite Suella Braverman's best efforts,

Kemi Badenock will be the candidate anointed by the right-wing media when it comes to the next Tory leadership election.

I'm going to put that one down as an actual prediction rather than a speculation.

She will be the favoured candidate, secret meetings with Rupert Murdoch that weren't declared by her team, although

according to Cammy Badenot, that was an accident. It was inadvertent. Who here hasn't had a secret

meeting with Rupert Murdoch that then they have merely forgotten to bring to the attention

of the relevant authorities? Oh, just her then. And the Daily Mail today chooses to treat

her with the most fur-lined of kid gloves.

And these things do not happen in a vacuum.

And they do not happen by accident.

So watch this space.

But we will not concern ourselves with the next leader of the Conservative Party this morning.
