I want to focus in this opening segment on a striking comment by President elect Trump that America is on the cusp of a new golden age.

Wow.

What a bold thing to say.

And yet it is a boldness that seems to correspond with Trump

in his kind of current, triumphant frame of mind.

It also, I think, corresponds with the upbeat sense around the

country that has been very obvious and palpable since Trump was elected. And so I want to reflect

a little bit about how this might happen because it is worth noting that the

American government is a very difficult hippopotamus to move around to change

because it's heavy it's bloated it just sits there and the hippopotamus

quite literally sits there in a swamp.

And so even draining the swamp doesn't really move the hippopotamus.

You drain the swamp, and the hippopotamus looks at you like, what did you just do?
