let's say debate with someone I love. For instance, is it right to floss before you brush your teeth or after?

I obviously think you should do it before, but at least I'm open to hearing the

cockamamey argument someone might make about doing it after.

There are all sorts of small things that I find myself strangely indignant about.

Like, where do you stand on having a TV in your bedroom or not?

Letting your pet sleep in your bed?

Are capers delicious or nasty?

Pomegranates refreshing or not worth the trouble.

And while these things might seem silly,

these spirited dialogues with my friends and family are actually a helpful training ground for learning how to disagree.

And more than that, learning how to consider.
