Natalie Williams grew up in a working-class family in Hastings, one of the most deprived towns in the UK. After working as a journalist, she is now Chief Executive of the charity Jubilee+, which equips churches to change the lives of those in poverty in their communities. I just remember saying to God, I look back at my Christian life and it seems like it is mess after mess after mess.

I wish this wasn't my story.

And I just felt the beautiful whisper saying when I look at your life, I see mercy after mercy after mercy.

Often we want the quick fix. We want the testimony, which is I was a drug addict, now I'm clean, I was sick, now I'm healed.

You know, we love the dramatic story, but most often, and even for people who have those

dramatic testimonies, there is then that sanctification process.

We need to walk a longer journey with people to really see them come out of poverty, which is a hard slog,
