Yeah, we have a biological child, but our call is to love our neighbor's child as they're

our own as well, regardless of if they're with us forever or 24 hours. And my, we would never

make a decision to welcome the child into our home without it being well sought out and making

sure that our permanent children are equipped to handle that. And I just, I don't believe really

in the concept of other people's children because I think that community needs to be around

all of our children.

Hey Laura, welcome to She. Hi, thanks for having me. I'm excited about today. Yes, so happy to

have you. I am so thankful that we connected and we've been trying to get this podcast recorded

for a while. So I'm glad we're sitting down and do it. But before we dive into all the questions

I have for you, I'd love if you can just share a little bit of your story and what led you to

becoming a foster parents and what does that experience look like? I'd love if you can just share

for those who may not know you. Yeah, of course. So my name is Laura Huckney. My husband and I have been,

we've been married for five years, but we've been together for over a decade. And we started

dating when I was in college. And there was kind of a situation in the hospital. And I was so

that I wouldn't be able to have children. So that kind of started our conversations very early

on of what would family expansion look like. And when I said, you know, I don't want to really

pursue IVF or IUI, etc. We kind of laid it on adoption, but we didn't know anything about it.

And so then when we got married, we were very shocked to get pregnant immediately. We weren't

trying. And so it was just kind of one of those things of like, Lord, I'm confused. I don't know why

you have for five years. Yeah, I'm thankful, but I'm also so confused.
