Welcome back to Fearless. I'm your host, Sissy Graham Lynch. And on Sunday, May 17th, I had the honor of speaking and praying at Rededicate 250 in Washington, D.C.

It was right there in the middle of the city, a national gathering on the national mall. And it was a day of prayer, worship, Thanksgiving, and reflection as our country approaches the 250th anniversary

of America's founding. And people came from all over the country. One of our decision magazine

writers, he even met a couple who had traveled all the way from Alaska

just to be there for that moment. And a lot of people, as the date was approaching, they asked,

why was it on May 17th? And actually had to research that myself. The date traces back to the American

Revolution. On March 16th, 1776, the Second Continental Congress

proclaimed that May 17th as a national date of humiliation, fasting, and prayer. The colonies

were facing war with Britain, and Congress called on the people to seek on God's help, to confess

their sins, and pray for wisdom and protection. And if you think about

that for a moment, these were men, our founding fathers that were getting ready to go against

the most powerful country in the world, Great Britain, and they knew that they would not be able to do it

on their own, that they needed God and they needed his wisdom. Because just weeks before the Declaration of

Independence, our leaders recognize that our future, our nation could not persevere on its own,

that they needed God then and that we still need him today. And when I stood there just a couple weeks ago

on the National Mall, looking out at the crowd, I couldn't help but think about how significant

that that truth still is today. And to take a moment, I had to set back, you know, it was just a busy

couple days leading up to it and to get there

to the event. But when I was there, it wasn't lost on me to take a moment and pause,

to realize that we had a president and a staff that surrounded him to recognize our country's

need for God and to acknowledge God's faithfulness across their generations, and to call out
