Hi, this is Hank Hanakcraft, president of the Christian Research Institute and host of the Bible Answerman broadcast with another Hank unplugged short. This one has to do

with trophies. The reason this is in my mind is I just walked into my office. I returned from a

charity golf event that we were fortunate enough as a team to win.

We won first place.

And I was so proud of this trophy.

I was carrying it into my office.

I was going to put it on the shelf with other trophies.

And as I walked in the door, the trophy slipped out of my hand and broke into four pieces.

The left leg that attached the golfer to the base broke right about at the ankle.

The right leg was severed at the knee,

and the club that the golfer held in perfect position,

well, it snapped off right at the wrist.

So the club is now detached from the golfer.

I remember as I was playing this round of golf for four or five hours,

the only thing I was thinking about, the only thing I was intent on was first place.

And then we achieved it.

And then we get the trophy.

And now the trophy is broken.

And what now comes into my mind is the contrast between that trophy,

which seemed all that significant in terms of winning for that four or five hours on the golf course, is insignificant with respect to the crowns that we are promised

in Scripture.

St. Peter talks about a crown of glory, a trophy of grace, as it were,
